About Us

The Southeast Area Social Services Funding Authority (SASSFA) was created in 1979, and has been providing services to its community for over 30 years. SASSFA is a public agency governed by a Board of elected officials from each of our service cities and by representatives from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, 1st and 4th District.

SASSFA's original intent was to provide senior services to the Southeast Los Angeles area, which continues to the current day. The goal of these programs is to provide services that support frail seniors to remain independent and safe in their own homes. The bulk of these services are funded through the County of Los Angeles, Area Agency on Aging, although at times SASSFA receives alternate funding to support this mission. SASSFA's senior program's service area includes the Cities of La Mirada, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs, Whittier, and the outlying unincorporated areas.

In 1985, SASSFA began receiving funding to provide workforce services to help job seekers and businesses address their economic needs. The goal of these programs is to support the job seeker in meeting their employment and training needs, and to assist businesses to grow and thrive. These programs are also available to youth, although our youth programs' goals also include an educational aspect, in addition to addressing this population's employment /training needs. The bulk of these services are funded through the Los Angeles County, Workforce Investment Act, although at times SASSFA may receive alternate funding to support this mission, such as services provided to ex-offenders and businesses who are laying off employees. SASSFA's workforce program's service area includes the Cities of La Mirada, Paramount, Pico Rivera, Santa Fe Springs, Whittier, and the outlying unincorporated areas.

Since its inception, SASSFA has provided senior and workforce services to thousands of its local residents. SASSFA is intimately connected to its community and is an integral part of the many service organizations and clubs which form a network of care for the local area, and nationwide. SASSFA's mission to support the independence of its frail elderly and to grow and enhance the local economic community is a particularly vital one, and we are proud to continue this good work.
